Life Journey

Welcome!
My name is Kryssy Thompson. I started this blog so you can follow me through my coaching, health & fitness journey. I will be sharing my story, hobbies, knowledge, goals & dreams. I recently became a Team BeachBody coach & will be tracking my progress along with my teams progress. I like to training hard, nothing comes for free. I want to inspire & motivate you to be an amazing person inside & out. Together we can make anything happen. We will dream big & achieve our goals together!

My "Why":
I want to help others reach their dreams & goals while working on my own. I have not always been on the right track: unhealthy eating habits growing up, family history of alcoholism, my mom passing when I was 11 years old, stressful living environments, unhealthy relationships, I got a d.u.i. about 3 years ago, my dad had a heart attack a couple years ago, exercise was not a priority, family members dying unexpectedly, the list can go on & on. I have been through a lot & have grown to be a very strong-willed & independent person. I don't want to follow in the footsteps of some people I know. I want to be HAPPY, HEALTHY & SUCCESSFUL in life! I want to push beyond the norm & go to the extreme. I want to build my coaching business so I can make enough money to be a stay at home mom, help support my family & not have to stress about money! I want to help, inspire & motivate people to live a healthy & happy lifestyle. I know first hand that anything can happen as long as you set your mind right & work hard for what you want. Reach higher, dream bigger & good things will come!

 #1 rule to life:
*DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY*

How I got interested in BeachBody:
It all started one night while I was sitting on the couch watching TV. I was flipping through the channels when I saw the P90X infomercial. It looked really challenging. I kept watching & thought, "If those people can do it then so can I!" So I bought P90X! Wow, what a workout program. I was not as dedicated as I should have been, I did not follow the nutrition guide & it took me a little over 4 months to complete the 13 week program. But I still got amazing results. I went from 145 pounds to 135 pounds, a size 8 to a size 4! I had so much muscle definition & gained a ton of strength. I was in the best shape of my life, I felt GREAT! I was hooked to BB at this point.

A while after completing P90X I was doing some research about cardio programs & ran across Turbofire. I love kickboxing so I purchased the program. The workouts were so much fun! Chalene is such a great motivator & the music was so upbeat & kept me pushing forward. I wanted more weight lifting so I incorporated P90X. I loved the P90X/Turbofire hybrid. Great combo of weight lifting & cardio.

I have always had trouble toning & tightening my legs & butt (my trouble spots). So I purchased Brazil Butt Lift. Wow, my butt & legs were on fire! I incorporated a little Turbofire with this to add intense cardio. Heart pounding cardio with butt burning muscle training, amazing!

About a year ago I ran across a girl in the Wowy Supergym. Today she is my BB coach & friend (even though she lives across the US). She asked me several times to become a coach. She kept telling me I would be a great coach & that I was already doing things that coaches do. I thought I wouldn't have enough time & I didn't know much about being a coach. I was in the middle of my 2nd round of P90X & one day it hit me, why not, why not me, I could totally be a coach. So I signed up a couple days later.

I started drinking Shakeology around the same time. I have noticed a big difference in my eating habits. I do not snack or crave foods like I use to, I have more energy throughout the day, my stomach is flatter & I am more regular. I look forward to drinking it everyday, it is so yummy.
I am currently on my 2nd round of P90X. This is my FINAL week! I feel so much stronger & have good muscle definition in my arms & abs. I can't wait to see my final results! I will be starting BBL right after I'm done.

My life story
I grew up in a very small town in Northern California. I am a total country girl. I was raised playing outside, getting dirty & running around the river bottoms. I was the only child living at home with my mom & dad. I have two 1/2 sisters, my mom's daughter, Tracy, who is 20 years older & my dad's daughter, Faith, who is 3 years older. My mom & I were very close, she was my best friend. My dad was very busy working a job about 2 hours away to provide for the family. When I was 11 years old my mom got really sick unexpectedly. She was in & out of the hospital. She died less than a year later. Both my dad & I were devastated. We hit rock bottom. He was still working out of town a lot so I would wake up, get myself ready & walk to school. Our eating habits were terrible. We ate a lot of frozen dinners, steak & potatoes.

In high school is when things got really bad. My dad started drinking a lot & I got into partying a lot on the weekends. We ate unhealthy & drank a lot. Overall we were living a pretty crazy & unhealthy lifestyle. My dad & I did not see eye to eye on anything. We argued over the stupidest things.

BUT... he was always there for me no matter what. He set rules & guidelines I had to follow. He made me get good grades. I played sports throughout high school (volleyball, basketball & softball). He would not miss a game. He pushed me to never give up. His moto was, "No pain, no gain". He raised me to be strong, independent, caring, straight-forward, just like him. We went through a lot together but it only make us grow together more, appreciate each other more. We are best friends today.

I loved playing basketball in high school & my dream was to play in the WNBA. I played on the varsity team when I was a Sophomore & was team captain my Junior year. I transferred to a bigger school to play basketball there but got into a car accident, shattered my right ankle & had to get surgery. I knew that I would miss my chance to play basketball.

After high school is when things started to change for me. I moved out, got a job & decided/realized I needed to start eating healthy & exercise. Things just grew from there! I started doing workout DVDs here & there. I became a big Jillian Michaels fan. I started to love working out, sweating, being sore the next day, working out HARD!!!!! The sweatier the better!

Then one night I saw an infomercial for P90X. It looked like a challenge so I bought it & LOVED it! It pushed me to my limits & made me dig down deep. Then an injury from work caused me to get two more ankle surgeries over a two year period, one that was very extensive. My doctor told me I would never be able to run or jump again. I was 26 years old, there was no way that was going to happen. I knew I would push through & fight to be able to do any physically activity I wanted to.

In 2008 I got a job working with the Department of Fish & Wildlife. I graduated from Chico State in 2009 with a BS in Recreation Administration: Parks & Natural Resources Management. I bought Turbofire & started Turbofire/P90X hybrid. I knew I would be able to jump again if I trained my body right!!! Life was going great!

But about a month after I graduated my dad had a heart attack, he was lucky to be alive. The doctor said he needed to change some of his bad habits or he was going to die. It was a real wake up call for him & me! I tried to help him get on the right track. I started exercising more & trying to eat healthier as much as possible to be a good influence on him. I started drinking Shakeology & shared it with my dad. Today we both drink it everyday & are eating healthier all around because of it. I feel like I am making a difference in not only my life but my dad's life too. It is very important to me that he takes care of himself so he is here as long as possible.

Today, I am living a happy & healthy lifestyle! I am currently looking to purchase a house in the near future. I work for the CA Department of Fish & Wildlife as a Scientific Aide & also working a seasonal job for Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission as a Fisheries Technician. I am also a Team Beachbody coach. Being a coach helps keep me accountable while helping others achieve their health & fitness goals. My dad is on track to being healthier & wanting to live life longer. I am trying to inspire other family members along with friends to live healthy lifestyles. I am slowly living my dreams but am still dreaming BIG!
